Working at the Cycling World Championships 2023

I got to work behind the scenes with adi.tv at the biggest cycling event the world has ever seen.

Most of my work experience has consisted at sitting at a desk with a computer in front of me. Okay, the picture above is still me sitting at a desk with a computer in front of me. But pictured above, I'm working on a PTZ camera, three of which were operated from the black stick I'm holding. The live events delivery of which adi.tv was a partner of during the CWC2023 included camera operation. I navigated the cameras using the black stick to increase crowd engagement with the live music performances at George Square in Glasgow and the sport, with members of the crowd appearing on Dance Cams or Give Us a Wave on the big LED screen at the left of the main stage.

But my time with adi.tv didn't just consist of sitting at this computer.

I was an assistant floor manager on live delivery days, including on the Opening Ceremony 2nd August 2023 with Katie Tunstall (whose most famous song is Suddenly I See) headlining the event. I also assisted in the delivery of the medal ceremonies behind-the-scenes and, on the one-off, in front of the camera.

My friend sent me this picture and, okay, it is the back of my head but ... I made my on-screen debut carrying a tray of cute highland cows for the bronze-medallists in the Team Time Trial Mixed Relay.

There's also a picture of me carrying the cows before I go on stage posted on UCI's official X (formally Twitter) page. But for the reasons of un-flattery, it's not being reposted on my page! If you're desperate to find it, I'll let you do the research for it!

Here, I am wearing the official volunteer outfit for the CWC2023 medal ceremonies!

The weather wasn't the most consistent throughout the championships so here I am wrapped up in a fleece and adi.tv waterproof during my time being up on my feet during the floor management.

Throughout my work experience, I acted as a runner (both in terms of equipment, fetching athletes and live performers, and our daily lunch runs), being flexible on my feet.

I had a fantastic time learning about the successful delivery of live events from the best in the business, was able to watch live world class sport, and made new connections during my time based at George Square.

It was a brilliant opportunity to see how live events on this scale operated and that I was part of the delivery of a historical cycling world event.

Thanks to everyone at adi.tv for making it such a remarkable and educational experience.
